Theese are the two men most well known for their roles in operation Anthropoid. Jan Kubiš on the left, the man who threw the last grenade, and Josef Gabčík on the right, the man who initially stopped us. I was expecting Karl Svoboda, I heard that he was to be a part of some mysterious plan, but i later learned that he had suffered a head injury that would cause Jan Kubiš to replace him and a delay of the attack from October 28, 1941 (Czechoslovakia's independence day) to May 27, 1942.A team of fifteen men parachuted down east of Prague. These two men carried out the actual attack on that dreadful day.
This document describes all the SS knew about Gabčík and Svoboda's involvement in operation Antropoid. At the time all that we knew was that it was some plan intended to take Czechoslovakia away from Germany's control.
This is a picture of the four men who made the decision to create operation Anthropoid. I recently learned from my radio that they are the exiled leaders of old Czechoslovakia. I believe their names are Frantinsek Moravec, Sergej Ingr, Edvard Benes, and Rudolf Viest.
